Abstract

This module combines 4 different components:

1 Operating component (Proximity Reader)

1 Component for door locking control (Controller for a motor-driven door)

1 Component for sensory supervision

1 Switching component

The Proximity Reader Component of the module is a card reading station which allows for opening of handles upon permission by proximity cards (LEGIC®-System). Reading of such a card is realized contactlessly using an antenna.

The ELM system stores a list of up to 1000 card entries which are authorized to open handles. Every entry of this list is indicated by an ID number. The Proximity reader component reads the data of a card which a user holds in front of a antenna. From these data the reader calculates an ID number according to certain rules. The ELM system searches for this ID number in the list of card entries. If a fitting list entry is found, the data assigned to this entry is evaluated.

The data may consist of a handle number. In this case the corresponding handle or latch will be opened immediately. Alternatively, a code number can be assigned to a list entry. In conjunction with the Keypad Module 3000-U08-XX the locking to be opened can be selected.

It is possible to confine the number of permitted uses as well as to define an expiry date. The operation parameters can be adapted or changed any time by software from a PC/Workstation.

The rules according to which a Proximity reader component forms the ID number from the read data are flexible. They are an issue of configuration. If more than one Proximity reader component is available in an ELM system, this configuration can be differently for each of the components. These customization possibilities allow the optional reuse of already existing cards or badges of a third party system.

The Sensor Input Component of the module evaluates the output voltage of an attached sensor or switch. The measured value can be read and set points can be defined. There can be an upper and a lower set point for the sensor input. As a reaction of exceeding or falling below a set point, the Relay Output Component can be switched on if it is assigned to a set point. The relay has a switch over contact. Furthermore, each set point can be assigned to one of two alarm lines.

The module will be delivered complete with installation instructions, a Proximity antenna and two Proximity cards. These accessories are described below.

Housing Versions
-00 is supplied unencapsulated, but in a housing rail for top hat rail mounting, and is intended for single wire connections ("KIT").
-01 is supplied only as a build-in part of a 19’’ rack mount unit.
-02 is supplied encased in a closed housing with a plug connector system ("BOX").

Sensors for the Sensor Input Component

Sensor Input Components of the ELM system are generic. No special sensors or interface controller are required and there is no dependence of a specific manufacturer. Any simple transducer that can produce 0 – 7.5V DC can be used. In addition, several specific sensors are provided. These are listed in the following table.

Temperature Sensor

Measuring range temperature: -50..+150 °C / -58..302 °F
