| Abstract | ||||||||
![]() The module implements a Operating component (1 Proximity Reader). The module acts as a card reader interface for Wiegand/Data-Clock interfaced readers. Most card readers from HID Corp. or other manufacturers provide such an interface. This allows for use of third party card readers with other cards or other media respectively. The module in combination with a reader device allows for opening of handles upon permission by cards or other authorisation media depending on the reader used. Administration of this component is just like administration of the ELM-Proximity Component: The ELM system stores a list of up to 1000 card entries which are authorized to open handles. Every entry of this list is indicated by an ID number. The Proximity reader component reads the data from the connected reader device. From these data the component forms an ID number according to certain rules. The ELM system searches for this ID number in the list of card entries. If a fitting list entry is found, the data assigned to this entry is evaluated. These data can consist of a handle number. In this case the corresponding handle will be opened. Alternatively, a code number can be assigned to a list entry. In such a case, the user enters the number of the handle to be opened on a keypad module. The ELM system checks, whether the code number is right, and if so, opens the handle. The rules according to which a Proximity reader component forms the ID number from the read data are flexible. They are an issue of configuration. If more than one Proximity reader component is available in an ELM system, this configuration can be differently for each of the components. These customization possibilities allow the optional reuse of already existing cards or badges of a third party system. The module will be delivered complete with installation instructions. |
